Historic Palmer Cemetery

Palmer Cemetery has been an active burial ground since 1732 and is believed to be the first "trusted" or donated burial ground in North America! Captain Anthony Palmer was a wealthy merchant and founder of the community of Kensington who later served as Acting Governor of Pennsylvania from 1747-1748. Palmer Cemetery's landscape is part of local, city, state, and American history. We are maintained by neighborhood volunteers and rely on the generosity and support of donations, benefit events, and grants.
